Driven by their desire to organize something unusual, to mark a difference with the classic wedding tradition in Monterrey, Cecila and Pablo settled on a destination wedding in the caribbean with a ceremony and party at Xcaret Eco Park. At the same time these bold and beautiful people were very attached to their family and honored several of the Mexican wedding traditions, one of them getting married at night time. It was this mix of young sparkling energy and intimacy we wanted to reflect in these pictures.
Another wedding tradition very often practiced in Mexico is the use of the lasso and so did Cecilia and Pablo. The lasso is rooted in a very old tradition of the spanish missionaries to symbolize the eternal union of the couple, as the invisible bound with God who will keep them committed all their life. It is the godfather and -mother, elected for being a strong couple, able to give advice on how to maintain a life long relationship of love and respect, who put on the lasso during the ceremony.

Thanks to professional event organizer Solen, the extensive celebration fluently passed from a Catholic Ceremony at the Chapel St. Francis of Assisi to a Mayan Ceremony at the natural pools on the sea shore, shifting from one fabulous decoration into the other. When the party got started Pablo even honored their young, but then again long-lasting love story, with a stunning mariachi show.

TIP FOR BRIDES: As weddings in Xcaret can only take place after the doors of the park are closed for tourists, this means the ceremony begins in the late afternoon. In winter time with the sun setting around 5 pm, this will result in a night time ambience with a very intimate atmosphere and soft lightning, as reflected in the pictures of Cecilia and Pablo. So if you are imagining your wedding pictures full of vibrant colors and sunshine, keep in mind to preview a photo session around 3 pm (and please ladies don’t be late :)), or a trash the dress on a day after. For example Adam + April did a session before the ceremony; Jessica + Guillermo a TTD.
