As is being said love can move mountains, but in Elisabeth and Roeland’s case it made us cross the ocean to set foot in Europe and find again the charm of the old continent with it’s seductive mix of architecture, tradition and ‘savoir vivre’. It was this exact ambience we enjoyed right from the moment of our pre-wedding meeting with this charming couple throughout their wedding itself at the Grand Horta Café in the center of Antwerp. Both brillant advocates they were introduced by a mutual friend; he relaxed and easy going, rationalist, always with a twist of humor; she romantic, chaotic and ever a meditator, they are the perfect example that opposites attract. Elisabeth and Roeland wanted their celebration to be traditional but uncomplicated and yet elegant, with true emotion and family love as the highlight throughout the day. As tradition demands, the couple did not spend the night before together and in the early morning hours we met Roeland, totally ready before the sun even was, while his bride was getting treated with oven warm croissants and champagne, in style!
Escaping a little from the protocol, Roeland was eager to show and share with us his favorite spot on the shore of the river Scheldt, were looking at infinity you forget all about the world around you. Thank you for this discovery! On my turn, walking through the streets of the antique city center a few days earlier, I discovered an old theatre building and so many other interesting places I wanted to take them, but time flied by and before the newly weds even realized they were married, they were sitting on a plane, direction an exotic destination. Hopefully we come back soon to get some more out of this beauty from a once golden era.

TIP FOR BRIDES: As urban weddings often include several locations from civil wedding to church and party afterwards, the time  of the photo session is easily consumed by transportation which makes it often impossible to shoot on several locations. So choose your favorite one! Best is even to chose a location that is somewhere between, or not to far from the final destination. Another option is to plan a session on some other day after the rush, to have the time to relax, wander around through the city and let the images emerge.
