Amanda & Jonathan went down from Denver to celebrate their destination wedding on the beach of Playa del Del Carmen with 100 of their relatives & friends. This was our first coverage at Wicky’s, the perfect place for such wedding since Amanda & Jonathan wanted to place their reception with a ocean view & keep the quality of one of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen. We thank Gelena & Luisa from weddingsrivieramaya for helping the coordination of that big event & organize this unbelievable parade on tricycles through the streets of our mooving city. When Adam told me during our pre-wedding meeting that April and him were organizing a Pirate Party at Hotel Básico as a welcome cocktail in desguise, we immediately agreed that this is a proper way to start the coverage of a two day wedding event.  No doubt April & Adam come from Crazy California, turning the night into a fun, fresh fantasy…

Tip for Brides: A rehearsal dinner can give more personality to your wedding by organizing a theme party or a one color only dresscode, instead of just another cocktail or dinner. Let your imagination run wild! It also gives different pictures to tell your wedding story, as it gives the possibility to shoot series of portraits, in order to have beautiful memories of the guests and for us as photographers to become closer to the people we will fix on film in a photojournalistic style during the wedding.

MADLY IN LOVE IN MEXICO

After a short and hot night the Big day started at Deseo Hotel, where I witnessed Adam discovering his bride to be. It was a precious intimate moment we shared before the love birds took off to their mayan flavoured wedding at Xcaret.

Tip for Brides: For many brides the question whether or not to see each other before the wedding ceremony is a difficult decision. My experience shows that, maybe you loose the tradition and the magic of the first glance down the aisle, but a previous encounter permits a more spontaneous and affectionate expression of your feelings which are running wild at the moment! Having the possibility to shoot a bridal session before the ceremony also suits particularly winter weddings because often the ceremony is planned just before sunset (especially at Xcaret), and if the couple does not want to meet before the ceremony, they loose the possibility of perfect daylight pictures.

Out of the different wedding locations Banyan Tree has to offer, Ebony and Mike choose to have an intimate ceremony on the Roof Top Terrace. Such an intimate setting makes that you are really part of the event and was very touching. After the ceremony, the couple and their close family were escorted by white vessels on the Mayakoba canals to the beach, where we enjoyed a sweet formal / bridal session that took us into the night with an impressive sunset. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we did taking them!

LUXURY PEACE AND PLEASURE

Christi and Brian choose Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita as the perfect scene of action for a small beach ceremony followed by a big party. Vincent shot one of his first weddings here, back in 2004, and we also had been committed to cover the marriage of the hotel owners (Maria & Diego), so we know this artfully Boutique Hotel very well and still highly recommend this resort situated north of Puerto Morelos for small to medium beach ceremonies in High-end Luxury installations. Looking forward to see you there for your wedding where “there’ll be nothing but beauty, wealth, pleasure; with all things in order and measure” (The Flowers of Evil). DANCING IN THE RAIN

Every time I get the chance to shoot a wedding at the beach of Amarte Maroma I am impressed by it’s beauty. This Beach Club, that from March 2011 will also count with a Caribbean Chapel, is definitively one of the most enchanting of the region and is ranked within the 10 most beautiful beaches of the world…the atmosphere over there is surreal. The bridal session we shot the next day of the wedding gave us the chance to enjoy it’s beauty even more. Accompanied by a magnificent sunset, the pictures shot in a more relaxed atmosphere, integrate perfectly in the weddingstory of these lovely newly weds. This beautiful weddingstory also shows you the importance of a B-Plan in the organization of your Big Day. On this one , Wedding Coordinator Leanne Mary did a marvelous job. The clouds, charged with shower rains, hung above our heads during the beach ceremony, but they gave us just enough time until the end. At that moment we had to refuge in the restaurant Pavo Real and shoot the formals in the sheltered garden. But as you can see on the pictures, the rain did not stand in the way of a wonderful evening with great ambiance.
Tip for Brides: Especially from September to November, make sure to preview a B-plan in case of rain.

This French-American couple came to the Riviera Maya to celebrate their wedding in the closest intimacy. Once again Banyan Tree offered a beautiful setting for a lovely weddingstory. The beach was all theirs and although there were just a few people to witness it, Adrienne was a astonishing bride at Olivier’s side and his 2 teenaged daughters.
Banyan Tree is one of the tree resorts of Mayakoba, next to Rosewood and Fairmont. Even if the other two are known as being one of the most luxurious resorts of the region, Banyan Tree has a particular charm because it has the same luxury, but is not that huge: there are ‘only’ around 90 Villas, opposite to Fairmont’s hundreds of rooms. This creates a more familiar atmosphere and even though Banyan Tree can perfectly host big happenings, it is also particularly suited for small but affluent events.

BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

This wedding took place at Secret Silversands installations in Puerto Morelos. It was an intimate wedding ceremony, Shawna and Jerome just being accompanied by their parents and grandparents. Nevertheless it gave really wonderful pictures because the light was just perfect and also thanks to the radiant beauty of the bride! Tip for Brides: Instead of planning the ceremony right at sunset, place it one to two hours before while there are still rays of light. Our experience throughout the years in taking artistique photographs learned that the sun is quickly blocked by the surrounding buildings long before the sunset. Besides that the sun goes down in a blink in tropical regions such as the Riviera Maya.
