BLESSED UNDER THE STARS

Photography by Vincent Ribon & assistant Alfredo

For their destination wedding in the Riviera Maya, Lisa and Armand decided on a more traditional approach, but at the same time sought to escape from traditional wedding photorgaphy, which brought us together. As with several of our clients, we share an activity in the field of arts and Lisa, a jewel designer from New York, created by herself  the complete artistic direction, including precious little decorations and gifts for their guests.
The night before the wedding our friends of 20Varos Producciones treated everyone to one of their fairy-like fire shows. Honouring Jewish tradition, the wedding day itself was full of rituals where Armand, born Iranian, was welcomed into the Jewish tradition by Lisa’s family. Beginning with the ‘men only’ Grooms Tisch and the signing of the Tena’im (engagement contract); the signing of the Ketubah (marriage contract), Badecken (veiling of the bride by the groom) and the actual wedding ceremony, Chuppah, which as tradition requires, took place outside under the stars. This as a sign of the blessing given by God to the patriarch Abraham, that his children shall be “as the stars of the heavens”. During Dinner and Party at Casa del Lago, Lisa’s father, a very serious and integre man surprised us delightfully with his enthousiasm and energy expressed at the the famous Hora dance, when the couple is lifted in the air on chairs, to celebrate them as a King and Queen, as well as the Gladdening of the Bride where she dances in the center of a circle made by female guests only.
As bride and groom are not permitted to see each other before the wedding, we scheduled a photo session the day after to profit of the surroundings and the photogenic backdrop of caribbean sunset.
